I am trying to get my Fujitsu laptop to talk to a Panasonic DVD/HD video recorder (DMR EX-77) to remove region code limitations.

    I have tried a Fujitsu 6510 (Vista) and a 7010 (XP)

I cannot seem to get them to connect & I suspect the problem lies with the irda link as the EX-77 does not respond.

I nave irda enabled in the BIOS & the device manager says that ir connection is working.

Could someone please advise where the ir ports are located on outside case of these computers. I think I've found it on the 7010 but there is no trace of an external transmitter on the 6510.

I presume that the irda link is COM1 (serial) on these machines.

    Can anyone please help.
