Configuring Wireless Radio On/Off using Command Line
as above.
Anyone have any idea on how to configure on/off via command line on Windows?
Am using a Ralink 802.11bgn 1T1R Mini Card Wireless Adapter
Would like to retain my Notebook to have its Wireless Automatically Switched ON upon boot but whenever i shut it down the wireless switch just goes OFF.
-
You want your wireless adapter to turn on when your notebook turns on, but turn off when you turn off your notebook?
-
i want it to stay on permanently instead of me having to switch on manually upon boot up. -
is there a bios option for this on your machine? my machine, an hp, remembers the previous wan radio on/off setting between reboots.
if not, check out netsetman (google it) for lan/wan management options. -
laptop model?
-
-
The webcam on the other hand faces the same issue but a software named Easy Face Login overrides it so i am wondering if there is a possible way to turn on the wi-fi with either software or CLI. -
People get on my case because I ask posters to give good information, but this is a classic case of a poster leaving out critical need to know info in order to get a reasonable answer.
The MSI Wind requires a keyboard combination to turn on wireless--in this case FN+F8.
You don't think that maybe that was important information?!?!
Sigh. I'm not trying to get on your case, but I think I am just getting worn out. Maybe it's time I take a vacation....
There is a program called autohotkey which allows you to make keyboard macro and there is utility for it that will allow you to make an executable of a script.
Create a macro and then make an executable of this script. Now drop that executable in your startup folder. -
what is important? FN+F8? What is so important about it?
and i do not think that having a good poster clear things up here. All i need was a CLI to get the RADIO to be enabled. It doesn't really matter on which notebook you are on - from my point of view.
i can easily disable and enable a hardware in the device manager using Command Prompt. All i need was info on how to get into the selected Network card and ON the radio.
Now, any better suggestions instead of all of the cr.ap mentioned above? -
THERE IS NO CLI to enable and disable your wireless adapter. It is hardware triggered because of the hardware you have.
I gave you a solution that will work. It is not "cr.ap"
Someone spends some time prying information out of you, looking up a manual because you will not provide it, comes up with a work around and that is how you respond?
Wow....I cannot believe I wasted my time trying to help you.... -
next, you could have asked it and i would have given AND on top of that i doubt Fn+F8 is the crucial thing related to my question stated HERE.
next, NOTHING is NO. If INTEL were to behave like you there will NOT be multiple cores in the market now.
Thanks for the help but not appreciated. -
the executable AHK script suggestion by gerry seems very promising to me. but your response is just... wow.
mods, lock it up? -
Try it before you actually comment.
why his is not feasible...
Wi Fi if its ON (if you are merely restarting your machine the WI-FI will be ON.
but with that script it will shut it off instead.
GOT IT? IF you KNOW NUTS, MYOB.
Really detest people telling the MODs what to do. -
Good luck MarineX. I hope you find what you are looking for. -
Your last two lines could have been expanded to include, "And I'm such a nice guy, give me your address...I'll pay for airfare and come to you, build the code, fix your issue, buy you a case of beer and take you to dinner at no expense to you", and I'd have told you to pack sand.
Sorry, bad day at work, must need a vacation... -
-
whiney,maybe....but my post came directly after a 3-page thread where it took a game of 20 questions to get to a solution.
I specifically said, "I wasn't trying to get on MarineX's case" and that it was just me being tired. I conceded I was frustrated in general.
And, I actually devoted time to this guys problem and offered and actual solution. I didn't just blow him off.
And your contribution, hovercraft?
You got command line solution for this guy? Got anything?
Not a whole lot.
I've tried to help him out. -
i decided to give a penny to a begger by helping him BUT before that i decided to spit, punch and kick him.
Now, does that sounds logical ? -
-
Once again, you are taking everything with a chip on your shoulder. Jasper DID contribute something--he recognized the the CLI approach is not going to work and also tried to encourage you to try my solution.
Just because you don't want my solution does not mean his corroboration is not a contribution.
Listen, I am not going to continue in this. I told you...I was not being saracastic or mean. My response was a result of wasting three days helping someone who didn't offer good information. I was exasperated. I even told you in my OP

I am sorry my response left so much room for interpretation. Even then, though,I tried to help.
I even offered you good luck in finding your answer. And that was sincere.
<quote>Good luck MarineX. I hope you find what you are looking for.</quote>
You don't want my help. You don't like my answer. Fine. You will simply not accept that there is not CLI interface for a function key combo that control's hardware.
You have two options: you can follow my advice and try a method that sends keyboard combo via script (there are some other programs like autohotkey), or you can learn how to edit your bios code.
That's it. Those are you choices. (well, or buy a difference netbook, I suppose).
Or you can walk around with a chip on your shoulder feeling you have been affronted and insisting the world owes you an impossible answer, and that I am some evil who like to waste hours each week helping people just so I can toss in a nasty aside.
I may not have given you the answer you wanted in the way you wanted. You can accept it or reject. Just consider for one second that while my answer may have been phrased poorly, I actually tried to help. I had to go to MSI and grab a manual. I had to do a little research to come up with an answer. I ran a test to see if it was feasible. All in all, I probably put in 20-30 minutes.
To...help....you.
I don't ask for a whole lot from the people I help, really, but even a hint of gratitude might have been nice.
So, anyway, take care, good luck and once again I hope you find an answer to your liking. Respond if you wish. You seem like a guy who feels compelled to get in the last word, so go ahead. I will not be returning or posting in this thread again. -
NEXT IF HE IS CONTRIBUTING SOMETHING, I COULD SAY THE SAME FOR hovercraftdriver AS WELL. WAKE UP!
talk so much but provides nothing either.
if you were to remove those text IN RED, i would have shown gratitude. Read my post and determine why have i NOT.
as i have made myself clear. You DONT bite someone after helping them, do you? - i guess you've failed to understand this - do you?
And there you are asking for GRATITUDE? WHAT IS THIS? A JOKE?
once again you are only accepting things that you want to listen or see and ignoring the things that you've wanted to be left out!
SERIOUSLY, IF WHAT YOU WANT IS TO SCRUTINIZE DONT EVEN BOTHER TO OFFER ANY BIT OF HELP AT ALL!!! - COWBOY
i WILL never give a HINT not even a BIT of it to the likes of you, seriously.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015
