This is a somewhat embarrassing question, but I must ask. I just got a new computer, everything is fine, the computer works perfectly. So I then proceeded to get firefox and connect to my home wireless network. I am connected, with a perfect connection. So I can pull up firefox easily, with the google homepage, but if I type a website into the adress bar, or something into the google search bar my computer just sits there loading forever, sometimes timing out. But I have much more sucsess typing into the google search bar in the top right, this usually works, but I can't open something in a new tab or it will just sit there thinking about it. But sometimes i can get somewhere, for example, notebookreview.com, but then I click on the forums link, and my computer just sits there yet again. This also happens with the Internet explorer the computer came with. I've tried everything I can think of, Any suggetions?

sounds like your having a networking internet issue. Try changing the channel on your routers broadcast to something higher. Some channels don't play so nicely with certain wifi modems. You can sometimes get internet but it is not sustained etc. If you can, set it to channel 11. I have found that this often is a compatible channel.

I don't know how to change the channel, but I have found that it is set at 11... and it is still not functioning properly.

Kick your ISP in the nuts? It almost sounds like you may be using an old DNS server of some sort, given to you by your router/ISP. Will other computers work on the Internet? Have you rebooted your router and modem? Does it work when you plug the laptop into the router and use a wired connection?
You can always try using a static IP (even with the wireless), and setting the DNS servers to the servers that should show up in the Status page of your router's admin pages. You can also check by going to Start->Run, typing in 'cmd', and hitting enter. Then typing 'ipconfig /all', which will list all your interfaces and the DNS servers they're using. Those should match what your router shows in it's Status when you reboot it and it gets new info from your ISP. Comcast changes DNS servers randomly on me, so it's not a bad idea to reboot your router every couple of weeks if things start acting funny.
