Ok. Today I bought Tiger Woods 06 for PC from a bargain bin for 5 bucks. 2 copies actually so me and my brother could play online via direct ip.

I have a D-Link Router that I am behind, he is behind a similar router of the same brand name. I am of the understanding that only the person who hosts a game has to play with router settings so I will continue using that assumption.

I found my ip using a website called ipchicken dot com. Seemed to work fine and he tries to connect to me. Everytime he tries to connect, he doesnt see me once he gets into the game lobby. Also, each time he tries to connect to me he kicks me off my home network, as well as my girlfriend off it too. I have to reset the router and wait 30s to a min for us to get back online.

I have tried to forward certain ports to my laptop's internal ip to allow the game to conenct. However the ports I forwarded were ones I found online from another guy who had a similar problem. However he probably doesn't have the same router as me so I guess this could affect the port #'s.

I am forwarding ports by loging into the D-Link router page (my laptop internal ip in IE7) and going ti advanced / port forwarding. From there I select my laptop computer as the IP. I have 3 seperate boxes ticked, all 3 allowing "any" (TCP / UDP / any are the choices). I have 2302-2308, 13505-13505, and 20803 -20809 opened. I put the first number in the "start" box and the 2nd number in "end" box for each of those ranges. As I said I found those particular port numbers from someone online who had a similar problem.

Also I have tried enabling DMZ mode which apprently puts my laptop outside the router so I am exposed to the internet. Still the same result, kicked off my network when my brother tries to connect.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Or is it simply that I am not opening the right ports or not doing it correctly.

    Specs:

    My Router:
    WBR-1310 Wireless G 54MBPS

My AV Software: Avira Antivir (guard inactive during this process)

    My Laptop: (probably not important)
Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.6 GHz
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    1GB Ram
    Integrated Intel Graphics

Brothers PC: (also prob not important)
    Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz
    Windows XP Home sp2
    512mb Ram
    Nvidia Gefore 2 graphics card

    Brothers AV Software:
Nortons (trying to make him change, lol)

I am unsure of the exact model of his router but it is a D-Link one.

Thanks guys for any help. Sorry if the post was a little confusing. I am by no means an expert on any of this stuff.

Wow, I'm baffled by this as well, I was going to recommend the DMZ mode, but I see you've already tried that too. Hopefully someone can help you and you can get it all worked out. Let us know how it all goes.

Go to the game mfg web site, and see if they have a FAQ that answers your problem. If not contact them bu email. Make sure your router has the latest firmware, too.
