I just read an article that Comcast will limit your use to 250GB per month. I did some searching for porgrams to monitor bandwidth use and I found a couple

Netmeter: This one monitors what is on you computer. It does not distinguish your network storage file moves.

Tomato Firmware for router: I found this one that modifies your linksys router firmware. In here it provides bandwidth use for WAN, wired, wireless connections.

The Tomato firmware is pretty good. I was wondering if anyone else have used this? Found anything better? Or is there a better router that will monitor bandwidth usage other than my WRT54Gv2 one?

    Thoughts would be appriciated.

It was a stupid move on Comcast part. The videogame industry as well as Hollywood are now turning their attention to digital distribution. So where will this leave Comcast? I say in left field as I have no doubt other internet service providers will capitalize on Comcast dumb business decision.

I was considering signing up with Comcast until I found out their price and I used them in the past and their service is at times fair too poor because cable feed degrades the more users are on the network. If you live in an apartment like I have where I used Comcast for HS Internet the service sucked at different times during the day when people were watching TV. It was so bad it was even tough checking my email.

I went with Verizon HS Dry DSL for $31.98 and I have been using them since I dropped Comcast. Verizon's service is very good and when you factor in Comcast's performance I was way ahead using Verizon.

The new kid on the block is Verizon's FiOS which is much faster than what Comcast currently offers with no loss in performance and less than Comcast service. Unfortunately it's not available in my area. :(

With Verizon I have no Up/Down cap limit and Verizon has already stated they have no desire to cap users service. Expect other companies in time to announce similar opinions.

Also maybe Comcast has forgotten the "Net Neutrality" Law floating around in Congress which opposes what Comcast has just decided to do. If i'm not mistaken I read that both Presidential candidates are in favor of Net Neutrality.
