Okay so I currently receive Internet and Phone service from Time Warner Cable. However I'm starting to think they might be a little too expensive for what I'm getting in terms of quality.

So I was thinking of switching to Clearwire which I know is offered in my area. However I wanted to first investigate into Clearwire and find out some more about their plans and maybe hear from a couple of people who have or are using them.

Well I searched, "Clearwire reviews" in Google and wow I got a lot of responses...negative ones. It seems like every page I clicked on had multiple people complaining about Clearwire.

Now I don't like to just go along with the crowd and jump on the bandwagon when it comes to companies and their reps. Norton for example is a company that everyone was hating on (and still do) back when I was looking into Internet Security yet after participating in the beta I found it to be an excellent product and I am absolutely glad that I got it for my parents.

So I don't want to just ignore Clearwire because of the initial perception I got from the internet. Has anyone here ever tried Clearwire and if so what has your experience been? Are you still with them? Is the internet fast and reliable?

My friend lives in California and used it for a while and she seemed to like it. She had a few connection issues at her house, but it worked other places.

Doesn't Clearwire make you sign up for at least one year? I guess it might just be me, but I don't like the idea of being forced to stay with an ISP for at least a year, and then get a huge early termination fee if I decide I don't like the service and want to switch. I also don't appreciate being locked into another year if I add a service. Wait a sec - is this a cellular phone company???? ;)

Do they allow a wireless/wired router to be added to your home network? Can you have more than one computer connected to their broadband network, or do you have to pay for each additional computer? Do they guarantee a minimum connection speed? Wifi communications can be iffy at times, so you might not actually get the promised download/upload speeds.

If you are really interested in this type of connection, give them a call and ask as many questions as you can before you decide to use their services for at least a year.
