I just got a laptop with WiFi and connected to the net with a router. I want to be able to change or hide my IP addy on my laptop? I am used to being able to do it manually on my desktop, but am unable to do that on the laptop. Help would be appreciated!

You can change your private IP but not your public one. All traffic leaving your house will go from your external IP and you can not change that.

Additionally, it is impossible to hide your IP. If you want to dissagree im here to prove you wrong ;)

You can always use a linux distro like BT3 OR bt4 beta. (Backtrack 3)

For a penetration tester, the options are endless!

However, I am not sure how possible it is to change your Ip.

About the only way to "change" your IP insofar as your remote target would be concerned is to run through a series of anonymizing proxies; of course, unless you control those proxies, you don't really have any way of knowing whether or not those proxies can be trusted.
