I was wondering if someone has some ideas that would allow me to automatically change an IP address on a laptop. I have a user with a laptop running Windows XP Pro. This user travels between different locations which require an Static IP Address change depending on the location. Is there some way, using a software or a menu program, that the IP address could be changed before signing on to the network? Example-

    location A - IP Address 10.66.22.40
    location B - IP Address 10.65.23.40

    Thanks

I asked something similar in another topic and Daacon provided me a link to a VB script that changes your IP address for you.
Here's the link to my thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=35987

I have a dynamic address at home and a static one at work and I started using it yesterday, can't really tell you if it truly works since I'm still testing it (it didn't give DNS number even though it was provided....but it may have been because I have the same IP and DNS in the broadcom) and from what I read on the readme, it supports several connections...hope it works for you.

if you're trying to bind multiple static IPs to a NIC, it's already built in to windows.

Network Connections / Local Area Connection / General / Internet Protocl (TCPIP) / Properties / General and Alternate Configuration

this is assuming you're talking about an ethernet connection, not wifi.

Hmmm.........but the alternate only appeared if you put a dynamic IP on the General tab...at least that was my case and it didn't work for me, well, I was looking for wireless anyway.

Anyhow, it should be the same for Wired and Wireless, but I also believe that "Alternate" only works when you're primary is dynamic. At least that's how it is with all my computers.
