I had a home wireless network with 1 Win XP desktop and 2 Win XP laptops. All was fine [and still is] with these three computers but when I got my new Vista laptop I'm having a problem.

The Vista laptop easily got on the network and has good internet access etc and I can access the other computers drives [which are set for sharing]. While I can see the Vista laptop and its drives from the other computers when I click to open a drive I get an "access denied" message. I have tried every thing [file and folder sharing is turned on in all the comps]. Any suggestions?

Right click the shares and make sure everyone has access to it under the permissions tabs. You can also make sure everyone has permission under the local security policies I think. I'm gonna take a peek and see were else.

You also have to go to Network and Sharing Center, to get there just start-network. Then from network on the top is Network and Sharing Center.
When your there enable file sharing and public folder sharing or anything that would apply to you.

Done that. Network discovery, file sharing & Public folder sharing is on. Still does not work.

Haha, Yea I hate networking sometimes too. Vista makes it impossible, the only other thing I can think of at this point is setting the permission level in the securities tab to allow full control to everyone.

    This worked:

    http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?p=3453518

I know you guys had suggested it and I thought that I had done it but I checked and saw it was not done.

Now while I can see the drive and open it, the vista comp does not show under 'view workgroup computers' - go figure.
