    Hi,

I just got a new dv5000z laptop and everything seems fine except I can't connect to my home wireless network. It is strange because the connection IS detected and its quality is shown to be excellent. However, whenever I try to connect, it just says waiting for network, and it is unable to connect. Even stranger, it detects a neighbor's network that is even lower quality, and when I try to connect to that network, it works fine! So it is obviously not an internal problem with the notebook. I was thinking it is something within my home router that is blocking my connection. My router is a Westell 327W if that makes any difference. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

my girlfriend has the same problem with her router. Its so strange because I can jump on her network no problem. It is almost like her router and wireless card don't like each other. Suggestions I tried were resetting to factory defaults, assigning it to her MAC address, no firewall software and see if that can get you to connect.

You can also try changing the channel in which the router sends signals. I personally use channel 6 with WEP, and my dv5000t works fine.

Well, I tried changing all the channels and trying to connect, and I still couldn't. However, I can connect great to my neighbors wireless! Maybe I need to get a new router? However, with a Mac Powerbook that I own I can use the wireless fine, it's just with my new dv5000z that I'm having the problem.

Try updating the router's firmware and your install the latest drivers for your card. Also try playing with the routers IP address settings.
