Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer.

Hi everyone, thank you for reading this.
Sorry if there's a similar post, but I've spent hours digging through the internet.

I have a problem with my new laptop (Acer Aspire 5750).
It came with lots of useless things on it, so I decided to fully format it and install a new clean copy of the OS.
I installed Windows 7 32 bit, and everything was fine until I tried to connect to internet. (I only have wireless)

I downloaded the correct drivers (with another computer), but when I try to install the PROWin32 one, it comes up with an error.
In the Device Manager, there are no Network Adapters for some reason. I have no idea what's going on.
I have done this so many times before. I even did it JUST NOW with another laptop and it works perfectly (I'm using it at the moment).

Please guys, give me some tips on how to get the laptop to recognize its network adapter...
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I installed it, restarted Windows.
Now when I press Fn+F3 (which is the WiFi and Bluetooth ON/OFF key), I get this:
It seems like the wifi is disabled for some reason

 

That looks like the card is not even there.
Can you see any unknown devices in Device Manager?

 

Yes, there are some unknown ones under "Other devices". There are NO network adapters under "Network adapters", but I know there should be.

It worked fine before I reinstalled windows, so I don't know how the card could magically dissapear....

 

That looks like you're missing chipset drivers.
Install this and this and this one (for USB 3.0)

BTW all drivers are available through Acer Download(choose notebook, aspire and scroll down to find your model)

 

I installed all 3, restarted, but nothing has really changed. The USB controller (under Other devices) is not there anymore, but the other five still have a yellow !.
Maybe I should install something for "Ethernet Controller" or "Network Controller"? I can't find them on Acer website.

 

Just install every driver on Acer website apart from those you know are already installed properly. It will take less time that way.

 

It turned out that there were no Intel wireless adapters!
After I installed Wireless LAN Broadcom driver, I could connect to my wireless with no more trouble. So I guess I have a Broadcom adapter, not Intel.

I've had the same exact problem. I did a clean install of Windows XP on an IBM Thinkpad T43 and it didn't show the network adapters at all. I tried to install Network Adapter drivers for Windows XP Professional SP3 and it told me that "no Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer." I have downloaded the launch manager folder and will see if it makes a difference on my Thinkpad.

 

Launch Manager won't help on a ThinkPad since it's an Acer-specific software.
It's possible that Lenovo have their own app for controlling Wi-Fi on/off switch.

 

Thanks. I found that out. I'm still trying to do a fresh install of Windows XP on one of my IBM Thinkpads and I can't see any Network Adapters. Same is true to Wi-Fi connections. I have tried to install every driver from the Lenovo website for my Thinkpad laptop, but so far no luck. It shouldn't be this difficult.

 

I figured out what the problem was. This will be helpful to anyone who ever experiences a similar dilemma. I had to download and extract the proper driver from the Lenovo website. Once extracted, the files were automatically placed in the right area of my computer. Then I had to go into the device manager and find the missing component to my system. I right-clicked on it, pointed it to the exact folder where those files were located and then the installation process was completed. In this case, the path was as follows: C:/drivers/Win/Ethernet

this is a great forum! I just purchased a refurbished dell with windows 7.

the guy I purchased from installed Microsoft 2010 and I thought that's what was causing my problem. so I did a system restoration but I am still having the Ethernet Controller problem. I installed a driver "R167854" that didn't solve my problem so I uninstalled it and attempted to install PROWinx64 and that's when I got this error message "Cannot install drivers. No Intel(R) Adapters are present in this computer"
