    Cannot access internet when wireless users are

    Hi.

    Total newbie here that needs some help. I have verizon dsl with a netgear router. New problem just started. If my son is using his xbox live account using his wireless connection I cannot access the internet from the main non wireless computer.

    Thanks for any help.

    could be an issue with bandwidth...not an expert on online gaming...but i believe they use a considerable amount of your available bandwidth...your router GUI will have options to limit bandwidth going out to each connection...so maybe you'll have to throttle down what your son is using...

    I have my xbox 360 set up tirelessly and had my original xbox the same way since the day live came out years ago. It uses very little bandwidth so that should not be a problem.

    When you say you can not use the internet do you mean pages are just slow loading or they don't load at all?

    Perhaps you have PPPOE, please see if it is enable in your router. On the IE or FF url bar type 192.168.1.1 to get into your router, then enter your user id and password and look for the setting of PPPOE, and enable it, this will help you to share internet with another computer.

    so nothing works at all on your hardwired machine? no applications that access the internet work at all? or are they just really really slow?
