I have a gateway P7811FX and I want to use my Motorola S9 HD bluetooth headphones with it. The computer didn't come with bluetooth so I bought a Rocketfish Micro USB Bluetooth adapter.

After isntalling the USB BT adapter, my headphones show up under Vista's bluetooth devices area. I even paired them up and it recognizes them as being stereo audio. But I can not get any music to play through the headphones. Actually, under the "sounds" menu if I select the headphones and go to properties, I can actually hear the test through the headphones. Also, when I have them paired up the play/pause, ff, and rw, buttons on the headphones work also. So everything seems to work OK EXCEPT playing any audio through the headphones. any ideas?? its pretty frustrating

Set it as the Default Sound Device (Control Panel > Sound > Playback).

Some programs let you choose the audio output device, therefore you can even set it individually for selected set of programs, making it the default sound device will apply to all programs and windows.
