What do you mean by "network." Access shared drives and such?

If I'm understanding this correctly. Your just trying to network a laptop, and two desktops togather via a router. All can access the internet, just not each other.

Are you trying to share stuff like files, printers and that stuff?
What happens when you type in \\{other computer name} into My Network Places?
Also check if sharing is enabled on your machines, and whether a firewall is blocking the shares.

Have u tried pinging the Desktops..
Networking can be tricky esp when it comes down to the wireless. I remeber when i first tried wireless and it drove me bonkers as i didnt know wat WEP and all the other crap was. Try pinging the desktops, and we will work it out from there.

If you are running windows XP here's how u ping the desktop.
In this case my desktop's IP is 192.168.0.2

    Start>Run>(type in cmd)> (type ping 192.168.0.2)

This should give you a results grid giving you the speed in which it gets a responce. Pinging means knockin on the door of the computer and how long it takes to computer to answer your knocking.... Or somehthing like that..... If you get nothing in the results page or Ping time out means...1) you entered the rong IP 2) the IP doesnt exsist.
Give that a shot and we'll see....

I was also told to type the pin number into the address bar in internet explorer, but I don't even have an internet connection yet! How do I get one? Our 2 desktops have roadrunner, and that's what I want on my notebook.

Also, what version of windows are you running on each PC?
    Home has limited networking functions.

Are they all on the same subnet, workgroup, etc...?

also you could be seeing firewall issues
