I have an IBM A31 with mini PCI comdo wifi card. the driver is Actiontec prism wireless lan 2.00. win XP
I used to get a connection to wireless lan, but it does not work anymore. also the available (checked with other PC) wifi are not displayed in the window "choose a wireless network". actiontec driver is scanning an displaying "associating". I does not work weather i choose windows to manage my wifi or not.
the internet connection via LAN works.

Please don't cross-post. Against Forum Rules.

That being said, this is probably the best place for this thread.

Have you tried disabling/enabling the wireless connection?

    How about reinstalling the driver?

First of all, things don't go wrong just by magic, there is always a human factor, remember these computers are really dummies, the user is the intelligent creature.

So this is my question, after what changes you have done, did this computer started having trouble to access the network?

i can not remember any changes.
when i am restarting the computer a balloon pops up saying wireless networks detected, but looking in the overview "choose a wireless Network" it says "no wireless ..."

I want xp to manage the wifi, not the "wireless LAN configuration utility" of Actiontec.
is it possible to install the drivers of the wlan card without the configuarion utiliy?

    Do this, see if it helps;

As you click on the wifi icon on the bottom tight corner, click on "View Wireless Networks", then click on "Change Advanced Settings" and then it will pops up the "Wireless Network Connection" window, then click on the tab called "Wireless Network", then you will see a box and beside is written; Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings, put a check in the box and press ok.

I have done that already, but what I mean after startup this symbol of the "wireless LAN configuration utility"appears in the taskbar, weather I activate windows to manage the WLAN or not.
Are there windows "services" which are maybe deactivated or so?

Yes, do the following to activate some services you think you need, at your own risk.

    1. Click Start, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s, and then click OK.
    2. Double-click on the service you need.
    3. In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.
    4. In the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK.

You can use this to activate the Wireless Zero Configuration for example so you can have windows to manage your wireless link automatically.
