Just for clairification are you saying the home connection with Linksys is ok, now when you are on the road / hotel the wireless connection has issues ?

When you added the Linksys Router did you update drivers for your card ? Did you modifiy and settings of the card (eg: did you adjust any of the roaming aggressiveness or power of the card ?) Install any other software ?

Are there hotspots secured ? What type of card are you using ?

Go to the www.linksys.com website, look for the support tab, hit downloads, and then choose your router. Then download the firmware for the router. It's worth a try

If you happen to know what type of wireless card then try to get the latest drivers (if you don't know open up wireless connections / General Tab / Properties / Connect using it should identify what card name is).

In the wireless tab / advanced / make sure any avialable network is checked)

make sure you are listening for B and G (in case the hotspots are only running B networks)

You are sure all firewalls are truned off right ? (Windows and any others you may have)
