    I live in a complex where the internet is all connected to a central router. I came back from summer break and now the computer won't connect again. it is a direct line from the wall to my computer. It keeps saying it is acquiring network address. What am i doing wrong and how can i get it to work?

    my roommate left for the summer as well, but they aren't having any problems. it usually connects to a screen on the internet that lets you connect.

    Go in the DOS console and do;

    ping 64.233.187.99

    This is the IP address of Google, if your are able to ping it, then your ISP connection is fine, is just your user interface, XP or Vista.

    Good, so your ISP connectivity is just fine. What are you using to manage your network, windows or another application?
