I have used the Linksys wrt54g for many years. Apparently its a G router and its very old and everyone uses an N router.

Looking for a router with good range that extends.

    Anyone can recommend?

I see there are routers that are 150mbps, 300mbps, 450mbps and 600mbps and even 900mbps.

For someone that would be streaming movies and netflix... what is the minimum that is needed? Someone said any router that is 150mbps is going to be a cheap router. 300mpbs would be intermediate level and 600mbps would be high level.

So having the 600mbps needed to stream movies without lag?

Also which company should be avoided? I still like my linksys wrt54g router a lot so should i stick with a linksys N router? Some ppl say avoid netgear and dlink. Is there a reason for this? They said their support is very bad...

Also, My internet is Road runner and im on the 15mbps standard plan. Does that mean anything much?

Well i was going to just purchase any N router on amazon and saw one for $50, its called medialink router but then i saw that is a 150mbps and then i read someone mentioned those are cheap. The router that im looking at currently is

Amazon.com: NETGEAR Wireless Router - N600 Dual Band Gigabit (WNDR3700): Electronics from Netgear and its around $95 and seem to have good reviews.

I don't really have a budget... but I don't want to be spending on a router thats like $160 if a $100 would work just about the same. The same as I wouldn't want to spend $100 on a router if a $60 will do the same thing.

Its mostly streaming movies and netflix that i need it for.
