    Can my laptop get internet without wireless?

    I would think so but how? I plugged in the ethernet wire to my laptop and no connection. But when i connect it to my friends desktop, he gets connection. What is going on?

    Is the ethernet wire connected to the modem or router?

    Oh, is it DSL? If so, then you need to make a connection via Network Connections.

    If its cable, then that's weird, if should be plug and play?
