Hi - Orange Telkom in Kenya are selling unlimited internet bundles for smartphones.

Can i use the SIM card & put it into a Tablet/Hybrid so that i surf the NET effortlessly ?

If so, do ALL tablets allow this or only some with specific features ?

I mean to say, what features should i be looking for (ie enability to slot SIM Card), so that i buy in the correct hybrid notebook ?

The bottomline is, the tablet/hybird MUST allow me to slot the SIM Card to surf the NET.

    Thanks

You can put a SIM card in those tablets/netbooks/ultrabooks that have a 3G modem.

Vaio Duo 13 and Panasonic CF-AX e.g. are Hybrids offered with WWAN. Make sure they support the frequencies you need for Orange and are not tied to an operator other than that one.

Thanks Folks. i am currently picking up Wireless signals from my Smartphone & surfing on laptop.

Is there be a notable differrence in Broadband speed from inserting the SIM Card into the Unit as opposed to working with wireless signals ?

Can 't afford to sign up LAN connection bundles from local ISPs.

If your phone and the 3G modem inside the tablet/laptop are identical in specs, then the speeds should be too. Most of the time they are not, different manufacturers in chipsets and all that. Mobile phones have smaller antennas too so that might make a difference in low reception areas.

In addition I don't like how using my phone as modem heats it up and drains battery really fast.

Hybrids are expensive, but a lot of cheaper tablets come with WWAN.
But if you are fine with your current notebook, just get a separate 3G modem in form of an USB dongle. Most convenient solution in your case imho.
