So I have this problem where my G1s can connect to my friends dlink router fine and it says I have access to the internet, but I can't browse, and no programs can detect that I have internet access. His laptop, his dad's laptop, and everyone else's laptop works fine immediately after connecting. I've tried reinstalling my wireless drivers, but I've run out of ideas.....

first thing i always try with wireless problems is the reset. turn everything off. wait a couple minutes. plug in modem, wait, then router, then wait, the reboot computer. if you haven't tried this, i would give it a shot. after this, if it doesn't work, i would check your connection properties. is tcp/ip enabled, for instance? do you have an overzealous firewall installed that is stopping all of your access? sometimes on my gf's computer, i have to delete the network information (wireless connection/properties/wireless networks -then delete them), and reconnect again with the password and such, then it works fine...

yeah the dns and tcp/ip setting were set to a specific IP but now I set everything to auto and it is doing the same exact thing. I figured that was the problem but it still does the same exact thing.

do you have the dhcp process enabled? under services.msc? there are a couple more that need to be on to let windows do its wireless thing... let me check mine. one sec. i think telephony needs to be started too, weird, but true... what else, wireless zero configuration. hmmm... this only really applies if you've been playing around with your services, of course!

Is this XP? If so, try this.

Of course, make a System Restore point first. :p

I think it might work in Vista too, if that's what you're running, but I take no responsibility for what you do to your lappy... :D

Just remember to make a Restore point first.

    cheers...

hmmm... you using internet explorer? if so, what sometimes happens is it doesn't connect once, and it goes to "work offline" (under the tools tab in my internet explorer). then it stays on "work online" whether you can get online or not. look for that and uncheck it, maybe? it's stupid, but that's microsoft for you!!!

Check you mtu setting lower to 1492, then it's compatiable with all networks.

Does your friends router have MAC authentication turned on?
