Now...this is actually for my desktop, but I've frequented this site quite a bit and gotten tons of help for my laptop so figured I'd try.

Windows 7. asus 802.11n wireless LAN card. telus actiontec v1000h.

Problem: after being online for a seemingly random amount of time, webpages do not load anymore. in firefox, it presents itself as it literally not trying to open the page, as if the button's don't work. there is no loading screen, or failure screen. it just doesn't attempt to open pages anymore. in IE it tries to but fails to open webpages. I updated drivers when it was working, and this problem still comes up. Been happening for a couple of days now. Oddly enough, sc2 was still working when I noticed this problem.

The only things that changed are I opened ports for xbox live, and assigned one IP address to my xbox's MAC. But this problem happens when xbox isn't even turned on. I also just got back from vacation, so maybe family did something, but router doesn't show anything suspicious or out of the ordinary. also weird that this happens when it's working completely fine

Ports that are open: 3074 UDP/TCP + 88 TCP (for xbox) and 8857 UDP/TCP (someone else)

4 DHCP reservations, but my IP is never those ones when I check on my PC.

    Steps I've taken.

    1) cmd ipconfig/release...flushdns, etc

    2) only happens on my one computer, every other system fine

    3) restarting router does NOT fix it

    4) restarting computer DOES fix it

    5) firefox + IE both can't load webpages

    6) troubleshooting issues doesn't fix it. in fact, doing that shuts down all internet on the computer now. let me explain...sc2 was working, i alt tab, the webpages aren't loading again. well that sucks. I go back into sc2 to close it, but i can still chat with people. i go to troubleshoot in the wireless options, and now all internet doesn't work (even though i'm connected) aka NOW I can't talk to anyone on sc 7) never had issues before up until couple days ago

    8) troubleshooting message to router "your computer appears to be correctly configured but the device or resource ( Microsoft Corporation) is not responding."

    9) troubleshooting message when I try to connect to this "bridge" thing that we bought for like $40 plugged into a socket because router too far away: "default gateway is not available" or "investigate router or broadband modem issues"

    10) ping Yahoo in cmd shows pings, which means it is working?

    Please help!

That's an interesting problem, a little unusual to be sure! I would tend to guess that it is something to do with the browsers more than the connection. A connection issue would not explain why the browsers wouldn't return a normal "error" or "check your connection" screen. Are the browsers on the latest version and are there any plugins on the browsers? Could a virus or malware or some kind of toolbar you installed be interfering? What happens if you reinstall browsers? also what happened "a couple days ago" when the problem began? An update? a friend used your computer?
