    Hello there.

My laptop, recently, has stopped being able to pick up signal strength when I move to the upstairs portion of the house. The wireless box is situated by the door and has always worked just fine.

We don't want to buy a whole new setup just because my laptop isn't picking up wireless unless I'm downstairs so, I was looking for another option.

The only thing they sell at the store that is available to me are these USB wireless sticks. One offers 54hz (I think that's what it's called?) and I think 124hz.

Can I use these to get signal?

    Thank you. :)

Why dont you upgrade your internal wifi adapter?

I think it's likely to be a miniPCIe card.

Do you happen to know the model of your current card?

I think you might have the Intel WiFi Link 5100AGN.

Could possibly upgrade to the 5300.

Or you could buy a USB adapter, just dont get a cheap one. Make sure it is wireless N capable. And make sure your router is good quality, setup properly and wireless N capable.
