Tested at the ISP's website, I get very close advertised speeds. On CNET's Bandwith Meter, I get DSL speeds. Speeds are roughly 5 mb/s and 1.5 mb/s, respectively. Is this cause for alarm?

No its Not, all sites are different and are at different locations so speeds can very. I would go to www.dslreports.com and use there internet speed tester under tools.

Im on 6Mbps, and i get nearly 4. Im not concerned at all.

Maybe you misunderstood me, but there are 4 tests on the page and 324 on the next. Which one do I use?

Pick one of the 4 from the url nickspohn gave you http://www.dslreports.com/stest - anyone will do pick the one that is closest to where you live or altertenativey one that is the least busy.

Well unfortunaley about a million things can affect speed test so you may need to keep trying at different times of the day and kinda get an average.

If you speeds are good from your ISP to home (ie: test from their site as you indicated) that is about all an ISP will guarentee (at least that is all mine will ) If your rating is suppose to be 5 mb/s then 2220 seems light for sure ....I get a little less than that and I am DSL 2.5 mb/s

Make sure nothing else is running on your computer and if you are sharing bandwidth with other computers in a network that they are idle as well.

It must be the distance to the servers. Local test is as advertised. The farther away, the lower the speed. Seems normal, I can live with it.

    Advertised:
    5000 kb/s down
    384 kb/s up

    Locally Tested:
    4510 kb/s down
    564 kb/s up
