I have an Acer Ferrari 4005, and I have no problems connecting to the Internet via wireless connection.

However, I am unable to connect to peer-related programs (such as Torrents) because it says I have a COM Port issue.. I really have no idea how to fix this.

My home PC is on the same router network, and can access peer-programs just fine, so I am at a loss as to why the laptop is having a problem. Both computers are using the same security protection as well.

Does anyone know how I can correct this problem?

    Thanks

Sounds like it is miss configured, look to see what port it is using.

Im not even sure how to check that.. it may be a port forwarding issue as well.. who knows :) I think I thought it said com port error, but after looking at it last night it seems to say its a port forwarding issue. (which I know even less about)

I just hoped there was an easy answer

Torrent use port forwarding for traffic. Your ISP may be blocking the port. Need to find out what ports it needs and verify that they are open. You can use this site to test for blockage, http://www.hashemian.com/tools/port-scanner.php
