I have a C640 with a wireless card, a Trendnet TEW-421PC that continually loses internet connection. It seems to usually happen after anywhere from 45minutes to 3hours of usage, where the connection suddenly goes from normal to slower and slower to not working at all. When this occurs I have to turn the laptop off for about 15minutes and restart to get my connection back. The reported CPU temp is often not very high, relatively, sometimes at 130F or even less, but I notice that the wireless card is extremely hot. I also notice the upper left side of th ekeyboard, above and around the card slots, is warm to the touch, much more so than the rest of the keyboard areas. Is this a "normal" occurance with the laptop and/or the wireless card?

I have a Latitude C600 so it's very similar, and the wireless card never gets hot after hours of use. It's made by U.S. Robotics, but I'm not sure what model it is off the top of my head. I think you need to get new wireless card it shouldn't get that hot. I've also had trouble Trendnet's USB wireless device, so I'd have to say stay away from there products.

Make sure your fans are working, you may need a new wireless card as your sounds defective or failing. Make sure your drivers are updated.
