The internet in my house has been virtually dead for the last week. Online gaming is virtually pointless as my ping is always in the red, some webpages are frequently timing out (including this one)

We have DSL and have used a Linksys WRT54G for the last 2 years. We called our ISP the other day and they said that the problem was the router, not the connection. So we plugged the line directly from the model into the PC and it seemed to fix the problem. Unfortunately that doesn't work when we have a number of things running off the wireless network.

I just updated the firmware for the router and it didn't make any difference, the connection is still crawling. So I have to assume its a problem with the router, but ****ed if I know what, and the warranty is only for 1 year on it.

I'm really not sure what to get in terms of a new router though... things are much different now. Here's what it has to accomadate.

    1 Laptop (Wireless N)
1 Nintendo Wii (Wireless G as far as I know)
1 Lexmark Wireless Printer X6575 (not sure what it can connect to)
1 PC without a wireless card that needs to plug into the router with a cable.

It's just for a house so I don't need range boosting or anything like that, but I'd love some recommendations on a replacement.

I have bought Linksys about 3 times, and returned them 3 times. I have bought a D-Link once and will never go back. D-Link has never failed me and if you're looking for a good brand to go with, i'd suggest a D-Link router.

im also looking for a wireless n router, ive been using famed belkin pren for 2+ years. after reading all the horrible reviews about belkin n1 from cnet,
im rly hesitate to up to N1.
i hope i can find answers here.
of all the brands i used b4, netgear is trash, drops signals/reset to often,
linksys stable but slow, belkin is a super performer.

And all change with every firmware revision. So one tested with 1 version does not apply to another release. This actually applies to all hardware (all mfg), except some are more noticeable than others.

Your ISP is complaining about your router? Last time I complained to my ISP (Rogers), they brought in a router for me. Obviously, it was no $200 router but hey, at least I didn't have to go out and spend money. :)
