Networks are far from being my area of expertise, but I'm going to do my best to describe my situation.

    I have a notebook (in the sig), I have a PS3. I want to use Tversity. I have a Buffalo Airstation WHR-G.

    http://buffalo.jp/products/catalog/network/whr-g/

But if you follow that link, you see the crux of my problem. I live in Japan, and bought this here. CD that comes with it, Japanese. Router info accessed by typing IP (I have done a little research), Japanese. My Japanese and my knowledge of networks is not nearly enough to solve this.

Both the PS3 and the Notebook connect to the router fine. Both get internet access through it. It appears as though Tversity is working correctly as well. BUT, the PS3 cannot recognize the Tversity server when I search for Media Servers.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for A) maybe what settings to fiddle with or B) a link to where I could maybe find an English Language set of the files that come with it. I thought I saw a page at one point that suggested this model was sold in the UK, but I still can't find those files anywhere...

Thanks in advance. I know this is horribly specific. If there is any other info needed to help, don't hesitate to post or PM.

Buffalo has a court injunction on them in the US and currently can not import any wireless hardware. There is 3rd party firmware for buffalo hardware since it run on linux, dd-wrt, open-wrt to name a few. I do not know if these are in the Japanese language. But most 3rd party has more features than std firmware.

I do not know any thing about Tversity, but I would make sure it has the latest firmware in any case.

Hmm... found this place called wardrive.net . Didn't look as though they had my model on there though...

Yeah. I read about the injunction. That's why I was trying the UK sites for help. Not much better luck though.

I did find this one on the Singapore Buffalo site which might be close enough? Mine isn't the high speed one though. And they do say that the files are for Singapore users only... I'll keep looking

OK. So I think I'm starting to understand this DD-WRT thing... so its like a generic tool for messing with the network settings on my router?

If that's the case, it looks like it would work. Also advertised 13 languages which would fix that problem. I fiddled with their site a little in the downloads section, but I still didn't find my router. Looks like they had a "Generic" one under the 'stabe' section though which had a few Buffalo ones on it.

Still.. bin files? other stuff... I wouldn't know the first thing about where to go with this...

Thanks though. This is progress. As for Tversity, I don't think its the issue (though maybe it is) I think I just need to get my computer and PS3 talking on the network.

Go to the wiki section, there is a user guide there. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices There should be a section listing supported routers. It took me a while to understand how their site was laid out.

This is replacement firmware that add features and controls to routers. Not a program (tool) that you use to set your router.

Looks like a no. Mine isn't listed on the page so I guess I'm out of luck... for now. I might just need to find a real techie person who speaks Japanese to come over to my place and fix this... bummer.
