    Hi,

I just got a new computer about 3 days ago, running Windows 7
I can connect to the internet just fine, and my other applications like Skype and MSN work perfectly. However, I cant connect to the internet via my browser.

My proxy settings are all fine too. I've also toggled with my firewalls, but to no avail.
Sometimes when I restart my computer the browser works for like 2 seconds, and then it stops again, so I'm thinking it might be software related (although since its new almost everything is set to factory settings). This is really, really frustrating!

Does the network icon in the task tray have a yellow sign over it?

I'm pretty sure this is a DNS issue. Try manually entering IP Addresses in your network settings. Assign the DNS IP Adresses of 8.8.8.8 for primary and 8.8.4.4 for secondary.

Start --> Run and type ncpa.cpl in the Run box and hit enter to enter network connections...then right click the network card you're using to connect to the Internet; select 'Properties', double click Internet Protocol V4 and enter those IPs above in the DNS section. Click 'Ok', Ok and try again!

Try disabling IPv6 in Your network connection properties. I had similar problem a while ago, and disabling IPv6 helped. I have no idea how and why though.

    Hi
I've tried both the things above and neither have worked.
I did however, observe something else. Whenever my computer has a windows update to install, my browsers stop working. When I download and install the update, the internet starts working like normal again.
Only now, I have the problem that my computer detects that there is an update to download, but stops downloading after a few minutes!
Is there any way I can just get the internet to start working even though I have pending windows updates?

    Tried flushing your DNS?

Go to the command prompt and type in "ipconfig /flushdns" without quotes.

flushed the dns, and everything looks normal when I checked the gateway and dns servers through the ipconfig/all.

I am certain it is a program interfering with my internet because when I start my computer in safe mode with networking, I do not have a problem with the internet at all.
However, I have turned off all my firewalls...not really sure what else the problem could be? :(

Can you try running directly without using a proxy?

Check if you can connect just fine in that.

Also, post the upload and download rate you are provisioned to.
