Replaced the wireless card in my Alienware M17x with this Broadcom 4352 card, mainly to get 5G capability (the card in my M17x would only support 2.4 Ghz.) - this is the card:

Router is the Asus RT N66U. Windows 7. Tried a couple of sets of drivers, they both seemed to work.

The problem: Yes, my 5G wireless signal shows up, but when I connect to it my speed is very low. I have 100/3 internet service; with 2.4 Mhz I can get about 65-75 d/l speeds. I was hoping to get closer to the 100 with the GHz connection, but that only gives me about 10-15 d/l speeds. The strength looks good, I'm not far at all from the router. Why would it be slower?

AND - when I set the 5 GHz bandwidth on my router to 20/40 or 40 - anything but 20 - I get a "Windows cannot connect" error when I try to connect to the 5 GHz signal. If I set it back to 20, it works (but slow.)

Help! Is my card bad? Oh - I also went into the device manager and made sure the "bandwidth capability" was set to 20/40.

    Help! Thanks
