    Hey,

I'm just purchased a new Modem - Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 Cable Modem (Doscis 3.0) and will need a new router.
I currently have Comcast and was leasing a Modem (Arris WBM 760A) and it came with a Netgear router (WMR 1000) - which will be returned. They said I could keep the router - but fact, I don't trust Comcast and fear they will charge me for that non-returned router if I did keep it. (For the past few years I haven't had any issues with the Netgear router or the modem, which I consider myself very lucky based on performance with Comcast prior - but am tired of giving Comcast more $$ then they need monthly).

So, I need a decent router to go with the Motorola SB6141. Any suggestions?

I was looking at: (is nice price after rebates)
Amazon.com: Netgear N300 Wireless Router with Detachable Antennas (WNR1500): Computers & Accessories

    I would like to stay w/in a $60+/-.

    Thanks : )

Any particular expectations towards the router (as in range, throughput, USB ports etc)?
    Price range?

    Hi DL :)

    Thanks for replying!

Well, range-wise about 1,000 SF. (One level). I would like to have some decent throughput from the router. 2 USB ports max - if even that - I think 1 would be just fine. Price range $60 +/- (flexible - if it's a good router I can search for some workable deals). My Downloads as of late have been about 22 Mbps, UL 4.7 Mbps. (At work right now). I believe once in that last 6 months I had to reboot at the router. I am always usually wireless in the house.

A few years ago before I switched to using Comcast's provided Arris Modem & "free" Netgear WMR1000 Router - I was using a Linksys WRT54G router and Cisco Modem - and having major connectivity drops. Comcast sent out a tech' and said it was an undefined issue and when I switched to their provided router/modem the issues seemed to have ceased. And, by that time they had upgraded to 3.0 in the area.

    Thank you!
Looks like I just missed a nice rebate on it! Ah well, still in price range! I appreciate all your help.
