Just ordered the V5000z from compaq and I was wondering about the bluetooth upgrade they offer. It was a little extra money and I figured i should go for it. Does anyone have this and can offer an opinion or review on its functionality- ie what versons of BT it supports, experiences with mice, headphones, cell phones, etc. Thanks in advance.

From what i have seen, bluetooth works very good. Of course if you want to game, and you are going to use a mouse, its not preffered. But if your just going to trasnfer things between your phone or things like this, than it be just fine.

My personal experince - yours may vary <haha> (My Acer has internal BT 1.2 compatible)

I use BT Microsoft Intellipoint mouse. It works well. Latest Intellipoint drivers fixed some issues (left alone for 5 - 10 minutes sometimes the mouse would have a hard time 'waking up') - no real issues here

    Phones (File Transfer - OBEX)

here it can be tricky if you have a BT enabled phone and want to transfer ring tones / pcitures / mp3 /etc. For me I have serveral issues with Windows SP2 default Bluetooth drivers. I could not get my phone to uses OBEX ( like an FTP for transfering files) - I had to use Widcomm drivers. There were several post on this in http://www.howardforums.com/index.php? so you might want to check out your particular phone and your particular carrier to see if there are any issues (some carriers disable some features on some phones) I find for me I can always transfer files (at least to the phone have not tried from the phone) - but it is not as stable as I like. (sometiems I have to power the phone off and on) - not sure who's issue it is , my Laptop or the phones but an anoyance for sure.

    Phones (Dial Up Network)

Works as advertised although I just tested did not stay on for any length of time - but I was able to connect to my ISP's dial up and surf.

Headphones - have not used them so I cannot offer any opionin
