hi, i have a dv5 laptop with bluetooth in my laptop. i was messing around with services.msc and when i try to connect to my dad's blackberry, i can't. when i touch the wireless button the one that goes from orange to blue, only wireless turns on, not bluetooth. (you know when you touch the button, then the hp wireless assisstant window comes up and tells you WLAN :eek:n, and it says nothin about bluetooth.

You don’t have to manually start any services, first make sure you have BT drivers installed. Go to Device Manager and see if you have section named Bluetooth Radios and your BT adapter listed under that. I’m not sure about _HP dv5 series, but usually Bluetooth and Wireless adapters are controlled by a single hardware switch.

Can you remember the changes you did? What services you disabled?

I don’t know all the services associated with BT, on my computer I see a service called “Bluetooth Support Service” and it is dependent on “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)”, check those two, there might be more...

Reinstalling the BT driver may also help.

P.S : Next time you decide to *tweak* windows by following some random guide on the internet, note down the changes you do; because then you know how to undo them if you run in to a problem like this.
