I recently upgraded the network card in my Asus Gl551 from a Qualcomm Atheros card to an Intel 7260ac. The wireless connection works great but I am having issues with a Bluetooth speaker. I can easily pair the computer to the speaker but the sound quality is very distorted. I have updated the driver to 17.0.1428.1 but still no luck. I did notice that in the Device Manager it lists the Intel driver under Bluetooth but the driver for the Bluetooth audio device under sound, video and game controllers is still the driver version 8.0.1.316. Is this suppose to be an Intel driver as well?

    Thanks in advance...

The distance is making difference in the sound distortion?

It is possible that it is the Intel bluetooth that is just weaker than the Atheros one. It is also possible that the newer drivers have wonky bluetooth, I would manually uninstall all drivers through the device manager, reboot, try the stock Windows drivers. If the windows drivers work, I'd try updating only the wifi portion of the Intel drivers (that may or may not be possible/easy). Otherwise, try older versions of the Intel drivers. It wouldn't be the first time that Intel has released a wonky driver.

also, did anything change in your networking environment. Wireless technologies are always prone to interference and the 2.4 GHz which BT makes use of is used for everything from cordless home phones to wireless peripherals as well as wi-fi.
