Hey guys just my new connection from Telus 6.0 dl 1.0 up. I didn't even know till I started downloading something on a torrent couple weeks ago that I had it lol.But yah i went from 3.0 dl 1.0 up to basicaly 6.0 where im only getting 5.2 down and barely .52 up....Which im complaining about and Telus won't do anything about. Anyways to the problem. I had windows 7 ready to install when i found out my new connection speed install windows 7. All setup got couple torrent and what i noticed my speeds would go to 5.0 and drop dramatically all of a sudden to 12kbps..... And right now im trying to download Naruto and its downloading at 35kps... Why?! All my torrent configs should be fine. No network changes. Whats going on? windows 7 problem? Telus limiting my bandwidth? or Utorrent settings?

Telus tend to have slower connection anyways compared to other ISP in your area.
    On telus's site, it says:
"Play games and download your favourite music quickly with TELUS High Speed. Enjoy speeds of 1.5 - 6.0 Mbps"

So expect a fluctuation of 1.5-6.0Mbps. Especially if you're downloading on torrents, the speed can fluctate greatly depending on the number and quality of seeds and peers.

I have shaw high speed internet (rated at 7.5Mbps) for a little bit less than $20. As you can see from the speedtest below, my actual speed is about 3x faster than my rated speed.

How much are you uploading? For torrenting it is better to upload at a lower rate for longer. I do around 15-30kps and upload until 1:1. You really should not go over 50kps unless you are purely seeding. Too high upload will cause your download to drop.

They could be capping torrent traffic?

If you have something other than dialup upload speed, then going over 50kbps will be no problem, however going over 50kBps will be a problem for people with slower DSL or cable internet.

Also, telus use traffic shaping and torrent traffic blocking so you'll need to encrypt the torrent data.

Ya if your upload speeds are normally slow like what you can get from the ISP then you would want to stick with a lower upload speed. I have Verizon Fios so my upload speed is 20 MBps so i can leave my upload at unlimited and it wont affect my dl speed.
