    Hi,

I've downloaded Transmission on my MBP and am trying to bit torrent the following:

    http://www.thinkgos.com/downloads.html

A green bar appears but nothing appears to be happening. Is it just really slow or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,

    Matt. Ireland

Bittorrent is a function of seeders and leechers. The ratio is important factor in speed as well as how fast the seeders upload speed is. 500 leechers 100 seeders = 1:5, 4 leechers, and 8 seeders equals 2:1 ratio which might be faster since the ratio is better, but it is still a function of the upload speed. Speed is variable on those factors. Number of seeders, leechers, and upload speed...

OK. I didn't really understand that so I used the FTP version instead. Thanks anyway!

Probably not enough seeders or downloaders. Remember to keep it legit!

Yeah, torrenting definitely leaves tracks ... be careful about what you download; records are everywhere. Many people become involved in trouble on my campus for illegally downloading and sharing files.

I wasn't suggesting the OP do anything illegal.... :D I downloaded all the music I could ever want up to the point it became illegal. I use iTunes now for anything else to sync with my iPod Video.
