    Best wireless router for multiple users and access

    I need to upgrade my wireless router. My new laptop is wireless N so I want to go with one that handles N, G and B. I'll need one that can handle multiple users - my laptop, my wife's work one and my daughter uses the network too on her laptop.
    Also, I have a blu-ray player connected, Apple TV for an occasional rental, Directv is connected as well for on demand downloads and a Wii.

    What's considered the best out there that can handle this stuff without dropping connection all the time?
    Will I need a dual-band one? Will that help?

    A little confused by all the choices....

    Just for reference, I currently use a Cradlepoint router from my EVDO days when I used a Sprint aircard. I now use my phone company's DSL for internet. But the Cradlepoint just seems to disconnect often when multiple users are online at the same time. One or more of us will often get an error message such as "unable to connect to WAN". I'm hoping a new router will solve this issue.

    many of the big brands should be ok for what u want be it netgear, d-link, belkin etc, dont get the cheapest no name ones as they tend to be rubbish, i use a zyxel and i have 3 Laptops, a Wii, a PS3 and my NAS all running together without any problems.

    I prefer Linksys with D-Link being second. Asus also has some very nice models but a pretty limited selection.

    If I am reading you OP correctly your new laptop is the only one that has N. If that is correct then save your money as you have nothing to gain. Unless you have FIOS or some other internet connection of 20Mbps or more you won't see any difference as you would need another N device to connect to. Connect your N to the G devices and you still only going to get G speeds. For 99% of the internet plans out there G is more than sufficient. Only FIOS and some very limited DOCIS 3.0 services out there can break those speeds.

    I prefer Netgear wireless router. I am using WGR614l with no issue.

    how do I re run set up on my new lap top? I just bough it and I'm not able to use powerpoint. the error message says that I need to run set up again.

    D-link DIR-655 is a great router. I previously had a Netgear WGR-614 that I had to reboot several times a month. Range is also better with a wireless-N router, though you would be the only one to benefit from that.

    I am using this WGR614 from last 7 months with DD-WRT firmware. And its working fine. 3 laptops are always connected with internet by this router. Still speed is satisfactory.
