Just purchased an N6110 from P1. I don't know the first thing about networking wireless so I have a couple of weeks to get the gear I need before the laptop arrives.

The N6110 has a Intel Pro wifi built in 2915ABG. I have read that this card sometimes has issues with certain routers, so I am looking for some advice as to which type to get. Ivan at P1 recommended the netgear make, but I'm open to suggestions ;)

The card basically has issues with every make. If you go to the intels website, just make sure you have the lastest driver and there shouldnt be any problems. Netgear is the best choice for you. It has a easy setup and it is just a good router. I have a Linksys but that has a complicated setup. My vote for netgear! :)

I have a netgear that I like. Works great with my N5010, but I have the Atheros ABG chip. I seem to recall that other users have to go to Intel site to get updated drivers to make the intel wireless chip work properly.

My vote also goes to the netgear - I haven't had a single problem with mine (all my problems come from comcast lol!), no dropped connections, and I haven't been experiencing any weird issues with any of my laptops - a Dell, and my Acer.

Netgear is great... but so is Linksys.
I dont' think you could go wrong with either. Haven't had a single hiccup with my Linksys.. and Netgear has proven to be very reliable too.

Yes, Linksys just has a harder setup. But other wise, my linksys WRT54G has been great. NEVER a disconnection, no hiccups. But Netgear does that at the beggining though. The both have there flaws but they are the 2 best. :)

    Thanks for the replies.

I went with a Netgear WGU624 (refurb unit off eBay for $25). Figure for that kind of money, if it doesn't work great I haven't spent all that much :)

Yep, no problem. I personally would have bought it from a store so just in case i could have returned it. Good Luck!

I was going to buy it from my local Futureshop/Bestbuy, but they want $79 for the WGT624 (they don't carry the WGU624), and its also a refurb unit.

$25 is a great deal for a router!

I don't see why it wouldn't work. But, as you said, it is only 25 dollars. ;)

Anyways, let us know how you make out with it!
