I currently have a Netgear WNDR3400 N600 Router. However I'm using an Intel 6300 wifi card and want to get the most out of my card and improve my range (I'm in a dorm and have started losing signal by the end of the hall which is about 90ft (27.4m) away. Currently I run another laptop, Xbox, printer, and cell phone off the router as well. I use ethernet CAT6 for items sitting at my desk but will switch between wired and wireless as needed).

I was thinking of getting the Netgear WNDR4500 N900 Router since I've come to like Netgear very much. Basically, I want gigabit ethernet, 450Mbps 2.4GHz, 450Mbps 5GHz, and the best ranger possible. A good reliable router. USB is a plus but I can't get any HDD or Flashdrive to work on the WNDR3400 so I'm not holding my breathe, and an on/off power switch is a must. I don't feel I need the AC band anytime soon since I plan to be using this laptop for a long time to come (at least 3 more years) plus I doubt I'll even use the full 450Mbps bandwidth.

What N900 router do you recommend?

I do stream between my different devices all the time and this is the wired direct connection speed of the internet in my dorm during non-peak time:

And this is a test moments later, running wireless to my router (no other devices connected to the router though)

That would be an Asus RT-N66U- reasons explained in the sticky (router guide).

It is too expensive if you ask me.
