I just bought a new laptop with the N card. I want to spend around 100-150$. I really dislike netgear had 2 of their routers in the past and did not like them at all. If you ca just post some model #'s that would be great.

I'm using a Linksys broadband router, and I love it so far. Right now I'm only using G wireless because my new lappy hasn't arrived yet. Works great, though.

N really is a waist IMO, its hit and miss if you will get the N speeds, and you have to understand that its not in its final stages so your paying up the bunhole for a prototype product that you may have to buy again in a year or two for the final version.
Then take into mind even if you do get it to work what you really get. So far almost nobody has gotten the advertised range boost, and the speed boost that only some get is pointless for say internet because who has internet thats faster than G?? (54mb/s, minus overhead being generous lets say 25mb/s... I have fiber optic internet at home and its only 15mb/s)
So the only real advantage would be if you do alot of internal network transfers. Then tho you must know that if you use N mode, your forced to use ONLY N mode to get those speeds, so no G connections can be used, there are aps/routers that support mixed mode, but there is a speed kill as a result and you wont get full N speeds anymore.
Overall it works out to be a poor idea to get N at this time. -
well all 3 sales reps i talked to said that it is backward compatible, so since it is only $25 to upgrade, might as well for the future.

You mean your wireless card? sure I have a N card in my notebook too, just saying the router itself is rather a wasit at this point in my opinion.

I've been using the Dlink DIR655 and it's really good. Handles BT no problem, which is a real test for a lot of SOHO routers.

DIR-655 is the best N router. Im looking to get one as well.

Xtreme Gigabit N from D-Link (DIR-655) seems to be getting the best reviews. The wonderful thing about D-Link is that they always keep updating their firmware, and their interface is very geeky and filled with features.
Constant firmware updates means improvements in range and speed, among other things. -
yep, I'm waiting for the dir-855 router myself. I want to run 802.11n at 5ghz.

You can kind of get DD-WRT running on that, just some people have reported problems with it dropping every upon updating...some have gotten it to work though.
Best N router for 100-150$ ?
