My E1505 has the 1390 internal wireless adapter (already performed "tweaks" via advanced tab), and the networks I connect to while away from home are often done at quite low signal strength.
Given my notebook is equipped with an expresscard slot, I've been looking at USB devices...do you have a recommendation for the best external adapter I could purchase?

I'd recommend replacing your wireless adapter internally with an Atheros one.

or the Intel model. I got mine on Ebay for $30. I had the 1390 card and it was terrible. Take your pic between the two but don't go external. It's easy to swap out the card. That's one thing I'll give Dell. They made it simple to swap out most components on these models. Just D/L the technical manual from Dell if you don't already have it.

Ok...the Intel 3945ABG may be a superior choice (to replace the 1390 that's in there now), but what about the overall limitations of an internal adapter?
Wouldn't a very basic external USB adapter (for example, the Belkin F5D7050), free from the constraints of the notebook, as well as having the advantage of being placed anywhere (within range of cord), provide superior performance for not much (if any) more cost w/ no disassembly? -
