What is the best AT&T DSL compatible modem... I posted on their forum but got no responses?

Searching I found two that may or may not be compatible can you tell me if they are:
NETGEAR DGND3700v2 & TP-LINK TD-W8980? If so are they any good or are there better ones?

Well TP-Link TD-W8980 is based on a Trenchip or Latinq main chip which is are nearly as good as Broacom ADSL chips. So out of these two NETGEAR DGND3700v2 is the better one.

Overall when choosing an ADSL modem always go for a device based on Broadcom.

Ok I just verified the Netgear DGND3700v2 will work with AT&T DSL. Is this version 2 a decent modem/router?

It is decent although if I were you I'd buy a separate modem and router. This is always better and more flexible and on most occasions actually cheaper since you can get a good modem cheaply these days.

I had a hard time finding a compatible AT&T DSL modem/router like the DGND3700 so guess I wouldn't know where to start finding a modem?

This TP-Link is based on Trendchip and Netgear is way too expensive.
Can you find a SpeedTouch 546 (Branded Alcatel or Thomson)?

Yeah I thought the Netgear was kind of expensive for just a modem. After searching no SpeedTouch 546 they have been discontinued.

    Any other recommendations?

If no more recommendations then would you get the Netgear modem or the Netgear 3700?
