Does anyone here use Bell sympatico as their ISP? I'm using their 'high' speed internet with 3mbps downloading speed, but i can never reach over 2mbps in any internet speed test. Is there something im missing here?

Usually you won't get more than 80% of your advertised speeds. You can try http://www.speedguide.net/ and look up TCP/IP optimizer.

Take note of the units the speedtest gives you:
if it gives you kbps, say 2000 kbps in speedtest, it is equivalent to 250 KBps download speed, which is about 2.44 MBps

My "performance" package 7mbps give me 650KBps download...

I have bell for my basic home phone. Then I went with Teksavvy as my ISP. $29.95 200 Gig/month or $39.99 unlimited. I think Bell started capping right?

What did Bell say about ur speed?

They said mine service is 'obsolete', then why the heck would it still work...and im paying this price for it when there is something better for a cheaper price.

The silly 7mbp performance package offered now has a 60gb download limit...pshh. Bell is cheaping out.

An episode of Marketplace on CBC recently reviewed different high speed ISPs and found Rogers to be fastest while Bell was the slowest. I have Rogers it and it seems very quick. No download limits that I know of, but I haven't read the fine print.

60GB is good is a good cap. Hell I have 20GB down / 10GB UP with videotron. 7.1mbps is goddly though.

That sucks because every other cable internet providers here (like oricom and stuff, wich rent videotron's / bell lines) are $40 (same as we pay for videotron with the Trio credit) and have the same damn freaking cap. Unlimited 5mbps DSL is $40 too but we got cable phone so it's no possible

I'd say switch to teksavvy, or you can also look at other alternatives. www.candianisp.com is a good website it lists all isps in your area.

I had bell for over a year, they introduced a cap because their new customers have speeds at 7mbps. There is no point in paying $20 more for unlimited, which I believe will bring the total to over $60 when there are much cheaper alternatives. Oh and BTW, Bell has also begun traffic shaping in most areas during "peak hours".

I get 710kbps with a 6mbps cable connection so that "preformace package" doesn't really preform
