    Hey guys

I have bought a XPS M1530 and OMG why do I have to configure every little thing on this router, I have phoned them so many times about networking as this is my first wireless router, anyway moan over.

I have a few question if anyone can help.

    1. I want to put my desktop whick is not wireless into my bedroom, can I do this with just a USB dongle, and can you recomend a good one.

    2. Everytime I go into my security settings under the IP address, it asks me for a password, but i can leave it blank and just click submit and it will let me alter my setting, is this right? It does say my network is secure but is it really with no passwords.

    3. Can I share my files on my desktop with my laptop and is this safe and difficult.

I know that these question might take some time to answer but I would really appreciate it so much, as I am at my ends.

    Thanks so much

    >> yes you could just pop WLAN USB to your desktop, install a driver, then just connect.

I have no idea which is better though since I found they mostly the same.
    >> I have no idea where this is. What is your OS? or any 3rd party WLAN utility?

    >> Yes, you could. It's safe as long as your network is safe which you could just enable its security. I recommended you using WPA2 only since WEP & WPA exacerbate a network throughout a lot.

Of course, sharing file is easy. For windows, just right-click on folder you want to share and click at Share.. you will see what you have to do.

I still have no clue where "my security settings under the IP address" is. Could you give me more detail? I mean the procedure getting into that. Then I might be able to help.

to share files you also need to check your firewall settings, it doesn't just happen.......

ok, so are you going into the router setup, or in your laptop under the card properties??

also, since it's a belkin, that may be your problem........ :(
