Sorry if i'm creating multiple threads, but i need to get this cleared up.

Currently, I am testing a Toshiba Tablet R10's wireless. This is not my laptop, it is my sister's, and it is about 4 years old. Basically, she was running on many unsecured wireless networks and she doesn't know too much about computers, security, etc. Her laptop is VERY slow after these years. Even trying to shut down, it takes more than minute before the menu to shut down/log off/hibernate shows up. Now i just bought a new Belkin Wireless N Router. Wired connections are fine, and wireless on my iPhone seems fine (but who knows, its not technically a laptop). Now, with the laptop, different story. After many configurations, i still get limited or no connectivity many times, then i have to repair it, then i will get limited or no connectivity again. Its just an endless cycle. Sometimes it lasts for 10 seconds or not at all and sometimes it lasts more than 30 minutes.

Also, possibly something that's causing the problem is the 2 wired connection. I'm not very sure about this observation, but i think when the 2 wired connections are in use, the more times i get disconnected. When i turn off my desktop at night and switch to the laptop only, while upstairs my brother is still using his desktop (which means 1 wired and 1 wireless) it seems to last longer. Again, i'm not 100% sure about this. Is this common?

Lastly, so is this problem with the Belkin Wireless N Router or with the laptop? If so, should i return the Belkin Wireless N Router (if i can) and try to go for a Linksys router?

Alright update, i tried it on another laptop my sister brought back home from work. It runs on Vista, so wasn't exactly the same as XP, which i'm used to. Anyway, i tried to connect with WPA protection on, it did not work at all, tried to connect but it kept saying there was problems. Unlike on the XP, this one i was not able to connect at all, while on the XP laptop, i was able to but with constant disconnects. After that, i decided to go unsecured, and it worked, but i am definitely not going to leave it that way.

So is this probably the router problem?

Since you're returning the router, I'll give you my thoughts on Belkin routers:

    1. Extremely cheap build quality
    2. Poor wireless signal QUALITY (strength is okay)
    3. Firmware is terrible
    4. Ugly!! Heh
    5. D-Link > Belkin

Yes, I have owned and used a Belkin router for 2 years, then once it died (finally, was getting sick of it) I got a D-link.

Belkin is your nightmare, they are well known as very bad routers.
