Hi folks, last week i bought the Belkin Pre-n router from CC and since have been reading better reviews on the Netgear834 and Linksys SRX400, so my question to you is, should i return the Belkin and get the Netgear or the Linksys SRX400? Im going to use this in a 1100 sq ft space and mostly multimedia, gaming. thx.

Everyone I spoke with seemed to prefer the Netgear. I know it was better rated than the Belkin Pre-n; not sure about that specific model of Linksys. I can say that my daughter's laptop with the Intel 2915 card was constantly getting disconnected and the Netgear Rangemax 240 (the WPNT834) cured the problem and it is a noticeable improvement over their 824, which I bought first and then exchanged. I don't play games so can't answer that for you, but is great for other Internet useage.

While buying it at a place like Best Buy may be a few more $'s, they allow you to exchange it for 30 days, so if you aren't happy with it, you can return it. It might be worth considering since it seems not all routers work well in all environments or with all computers. As for us, the disconnect problem with the Intel card seemed directly related to interference issues, since it was worse in her apt. than at home, where there is more wireless interference, and worked fine in school where the network signal is stronger. We've had it for 3 months now both at home and in her apt. and it works great.

thank you guys, for your replies. m6137, thats a good idea to try each of the routers i.e SRX400 and the 240 for a few days since i do have the 30 days. This is why i prefer to pay a little extra by going with the brick and mortar stores.

I have a question the current 802.11n routers in general.
Lets say I buy a linksys srx (802.11n) PCMCIA card...can I use it to connect to say a belkin N or netgear N, and get at least the speed of the linksys SRX when connected to each?
