Hi, I have problems with slow transfer speed accross my home network..need some advice..

    situation is:
    Belkin N+ F5D8235-4 v2000...4 GLAN ports
    setup: only 802.11 n , 20/40MHZ ,channel 13+9, QoS on..
WPA2-PSK AES, everything else turned off (WPS, guest mode)
    latest firmware

2 notebooks with Intel wifi 5100agn..setup according to:
Wireless Networking — What are the recommended settings for 802.11n connectivity?
    or GLAN ports

USB flash disk connected to router (speed write/read usually 10/15MB when connected to PC)

MMC Xtreamer prodigy 1GLAN and USB2.0 HDD connected in to it...

The fact is that transfer speed from notebook in to USB flashkey or in to USB HDD is max 2 MB/s no matther what settings I have changed.

The copy speed with cat5e cables max 6 MB/s.

    any idea? THX

Routers are usually slow with USB drives no matter what router you have, the speed on ethernet seems normal to me.

As for the speeds on wireless, i'm betting on interference, + draft N + belkin for the slower speeds. The distance from the router also has an impact.

With some tweaking, you may be able to get the transfer speed a tad up, but don't expect more than what you're getting wired.

so..speed 6 MB/s on giga lan ports seems ok to u?

the distance from router is 2 m without any wall...and 2 MB/s what is 16Mb is too slow when we suspect at least half speed of connection speed what is 144Mb

Write speed for USB is ugly but that's the way it is with routers especially the slow ones (in terms of CPU power)
That's partly because the router lacks processing power and partly because you probably use NTFS on your hard-drive- which is something Linux-based routers do not like.

What do you mean by copy speed of 6MB/s? Copying from a HDD/USB connected to a router to a computer or from a computer to a computer via router?
Test the latter- what's the speed you can achieve while copying from one computer to another (both connected via Ethernet)

6MB/s is ok for writing to or reading from the USB drive connected to the router. It is slow for LAN to LAN transfers though.

Also, to get half the link rate reported for your wireless connection requires an almost completely clean wireless environment which ain't gonna happen on 2.4GHz.

no no...the flashkey is connected to router,,but forget it..

there is another USB HDD connected in to MMC..the MMC has arroud 80Mb transfer rate in some users reviews..
6MB/s is transfer movie speed from PC in to MMC (with USB HDD) connected by cable...

the 2 MB/s is from PC in to MMC by wifi

Wait, if i get what you're saying right, the 6MB/s isn't from LAN to router USB, but LAN to MMC (LAN connected) to USB drive.

From one of the few reviews i could find: Xtreamer Prodigy Black: Full Review

The 6MB/s isn't that far off, have you tried with a different cat5e or cat6 cable? Anyways, i suppose you don't consider the 6MB/s to be the main issue, but the wireless transfer speeds.

Now back to wi-fi, i would test wireless to LAN transfer between two computers just to make sure, but it definitely sounds like you're getting interference that is causing your speed to drop. Either that, or your router is dropping back to wireless g speed

have to say according to transfer times are relatively slow: 8.7 MB/s via Ethernet and 3.5 MB/s via Wi-Fi
the 3.5 MB/s is for prodigy with wifi...I dont have that one

an second thing...download from torrents is max 5,6 MB (what is max of my internet speed) by wifi in to PC.
so if I can download from internet 5,6MB why not copy with that speed over LAN ?

and what channel do u recommend.. I am T

It's not the wireless that's limiting you- it's the device you're copying from.

Use a shared folder on a computer connected to a router via Ethernet, place a reasonably big file there and use a notebook connected via Wi-Fi to download the file from a shared folder.
My guess is it will be reasonably fast- more like 5MB/s-6MB/s than 2MB/s.

If that is the case- we're back to square one. In such a case it's not the wireless, it's not the router- it's the MMC Xtreamer prodigy.

BTW you're wireless channel is OK (as good as it can be considering other networks)

Yep, your channel is actually the best choice available.
