    Hi Friends

    I bought this belkin n+ wifi router & wifi n+ usb adapter yesterday only. The router is working fine.

    In one of my rooms on first floor where I had no signal with my previous router (g) while using with my dell laptop (3945agn card), now I'm able to connect my laptop (3945agn) with belkin n+ router in g mode. Thought the signal strength is poor but it doesn't break and gives very less data transfer speed like 5mbps.

    Now the real story..I disabled this 3945agn on my laptop & installed belkin n+ usb adapter (just to get good range/ signal/ speed). The n+ usb adapter isn't able to see the network at all. If I come half the way downstairs, then only I'm able to see the network & connect, that too with less signals.

    Are there any settings to be changed for this??

    What can I do now. N isn't working for me while I bought this n+ combo just to increase range/ coverage & speed. I've spent appx 160 USD for this & we don't even have a return policy. I cant call the product faulty exactly as its working but not really as 'n' should have worked.

    Please help urgently.

    P.S.: I'm using windows vista home basic 32 bit on my laptop.

    Update:

    What I found out is when using my belkin n+ router in b/g/n mode & using both wifi cards i.e. intel 3945abg mini pcie internal & belkin n+ wifi external usb in my laptop, intel one shows 100% signals (g) & belkin shows 70% signals (dont know wether g or n).

    Can someone please tell me why it is so? Wifi 'n' is supposed to bring more range, better signal & better speed?

    Hey can some one please tell me if i can setup belkin usb adapter to g only like we can do with intel 3945abg.

    11n does not bring more range over 11g or 11n when compaired to a modern MIMO router. As for Belkin, I have never liked their products. It's a hit or miss to find one that works. Then it may not work the next time you try it. If running in the 5ghz band, you will have less range over the 2.4. Higher the freq the less it penetrates walls. 11n drops speed a lot faster than 11g does. So your loss of signal does not surprise me. I would check to see if your setup for mixed mode. Make sure you have the latest drivers, router and card. Try using a different channel. I always like running a scanner to see who and what is being used. Then pick a channel away from the others. If you have cordless phones these can also impact wireless networks.

    @blue68f100: Thanks for the reply.

    Why I'm not able to get replies from other experts in the forum, I suppose my problem is genuine & we have got good experts here.
