I recently replaced a broken D-link router with a Belking F5D8233. My kids Nintendo Wii now has problems to stay connected for online playing. I use WEP 128-Bit Open security (WPA and WPA2 didn't allow the Wii to connect at all).

The Wii connects but during play (Mario Cart) the connection is frequently lost. Sometimes the connection remains but my kid is thrown out of the actual race. It's like the router is interrupting the stream of information briefly; long enough to kick him out of the game but not to disconnect the Wii from the Internet.

    Any suggestions?

By the way, I watch baseball over the Internet (MLB.com) and since I live in Europe I watch the NFL as well (Yahoo Sports). With my old D-link router I never had a problem but with the Belkin router the streaming video stops frequently and often disconnects. Maybe this is related to the problems with the Wii?

That a feature of most all Belkin routers. They are just flakey on a good day, if you load them they get worst (your case).

The belkin routers always seam to test good, but are very flakey at best. Go to Smallnetbuilder.com and look over their router table and review. Personally I like Dlink, Netgear, Linksys/Sisco on a per/router basis (a lot of models have problem, the 11n ones seam to be better).

Try using it w/ out security just to test for a day or so.
