Sorry if this has been answered before. I've scanned some recent threads but couldn't find any answers.

I have an Acer notebook and an adsl wireless Netgear DG834g router.

When I turn my notebook on it finds the wireless network and appears to connect, but when i load up explorer I can't seem to go into any webpages. I read somewhere to try pinging a website. This doesn't work, but it works when I ping the router IP What's going on? I just want to access the internet through this modem/router wirelesslly.

On a sort of seperate note, I tried to set up a network earlier (to use printer connected to my desktop and easily share files) and used a network creation thing on my XP Pro notebook which created a file that i run on every pc on my home network, except it doesn't work for Win2000 which is what my desktop runs! Everything else it will run on! Is there any way around this? Or does win2k only network with win2k!?
